Lucia Vesnic-Alujevic is a research leader at RAND Europe working on science and emerging technologies. Through her work and research at the intersection of strategic foresight, citizen engagement and science and technology studies, she has supported the European Commission and other EU institutions and agencies for over a decade. She has broad experience using various foresight methods, including scenario planning, horizon scanning, Delphi, megatrends and trends analysis, as well as more creative ones such as speculative design and serious games. She has led numerous foresight projects and has been facilitator of Oxford Scenario Planning Programme.

Lucia has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, science for policy reports, edited volumes, and special issues in the area of political science, communication science, futures studies and STS. She holds a Ph.D. in political and social sciences, with a focus on digital political communication and European Parliament elections, from Ghent University.
