    Health Care Payment Approaches

    commentary

What Are the Practical Considerations for Outcome-Based Payment in the NHS?

Uncertainty can surround the effectiveness or cost-effectiveness of a new medicine, making it difficult to agree on a medicine's price. One solution to avoid unduly delaying or restricting patients' access is to link the medicine's price to the outcomes it produces in a patient. Despite some barriers, outcome-based payment could offer a “win” for patients, the NHS, and industry.

Treating Breast Cancer Is Not Just About the Disease: Its Wider Impacts Need to Be Considered, Too

Successes in the early treatment of breast cancer are to be celebrated. But those achievements need not limit the development of further and better treatment for patients. Understanding the disease's wider effects could help bring this about.

Quoted

  • Software supply chain security has emerged as a leading risk because of the massively fragmented and decentralized nature of modern software development. Unlike other problems in cybersecurity, this is a discrete problem, where the data exist. Information required to map software dependents or dependencies is knowable because there exists a finite limit to the number of nodes and dependencies.
