About the Workshop

This workshop provides legislative staffers with an introduction to policy analysis tools and techniques, as well as an understanding of how they can be used to improve the quality of public policy decisionmaking. Participants learn

  • About a framework for analyzing complex policy problems in a systematic way
  • How to incorporate political feasibility into the calculus
  • How to use a matrix to clearly outline policy elements and trade-offs
  • How even a small amount of policy analysis skills can lead to better policy formulation.

With an introduction to policy analysis "tools of the trade," staffers will be better equipped to manage the demands of policymaking on the Hill.
