Appalachia Partnership Initiative

The Appalachia Partnership Initiative (API) is multi-year effort supported by Chevron, the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, the Grable Foundation, the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, and Catalyst Connection. RAND serves as the independent evaluation and monitoring lead for the API.

The API addresses STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) K-12 education and workforce development needs in the Greater Pittsburgh area’s advanced manufacturing and energy sectors.

API Goals

  • Support STEM and workforce development programs
  • Build capacity of skilled workers in the region
  • Help create energy and manufacturing jobs
  • Improve livelihood of local residents
