As the school year begins for children in Pittsburgh and throughout the nation, it's a good time for the rest of us to reflect on how to best support their success in school and in life. Our panelists will explore several aspects of students' experiences, inside and outside of the classroom:

Catherine Augustine will discuss how summer learning programs can narrow the achievement gaps among students from lower-and higher-income households; Steven Martino will explain how alcohol- and smoking-related content in media affects students' decisionmaking and behavior; and Dana Schultz will describe how programs can reduce the social and psychological impact of children's exposure to violence.

Join us as Carey Harris, Executive Director of A+ Schools, leads us in this discussion about the challenges that face our youth and how we can help them. The program will be immediately followed by an informal reception where you can meet our experts and continue the conversation.
