Uncertainty following Congress’ failed attempts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act is raising anxiety among both insurers and consumers. In 2018, premiums on the Affordable Care Act’s Marketplaces could increase by more than 40 percent in some localities, and insurers in some markets may stop offering coverage altogether. In September, Congress will hold bipartisan hearings to discuss policies to stabilize the Marketplaces. RAND is in the process of analyzing some of these options.

Join us to go Beyond the Headlines on health care with RAND senior economist Christine Eibner, the Paul O’Neill Alcoa Chair in Policy Analysis. She is also director of RAND COMPARE, a project that uses economic modeling to predict how individuals and employers will respond to major health care policy changes. Eibner will discuss modifications to the ACA, as well as the long-term outlook for health care reform in the U.S.
