On February 17, 2011, the RAND Corporation presented "A Conversation with John Deasy, the Next Superintendent of LAUSD" as part of its Distinguished Speaker series in Santa Monica, California.

John E. Deasy was recently voted by the Los Angeles Board of Education to be the next superintendent of the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). Currently serving as the deputy superintendent, Deasy will officially take the top position on April 15, making him the fifth superintendent in a decade entrusted with directing the nation's second-largest public school district.
