RAND Expert to Testify before Congress on the Evolving Threat of Terrorism


Brian Michael Jenkins, senior adviser to the President at the RAND Corporation, will provide testimony before the House Armed Services Committee. He will speak about “The Evolving Threat of Terrorism and Effective Counterterrorism Strategies.” Jenkins is the author of the analysis “Do Significant Terrorist Attacks Increase the Risks of Further Attacks?” and the recent commentary “Why a Travel Restriction Won't Stop Terrorism at Home.”


Jenkins will address:

  • The nature of the jihadist and Islamist terrorism threat to U.S. security, including homegrown terrorism
  • Terrorist spillover from conflicts in the Middle East, North Africa and western Asia
  • The extent to which the U.S. might cooperate more closely with the Russians
