RAND Expert Available to Discuss Latest California Proposal on Driverless Cars
The California Department of Motor Vehicles proposed new regulations last week to allow testing of vehicles without drivers, which would pave the way for allowing the vehicles on roads. Currently, the state requires companies testing autonomous vehicles to have a human in the driver's seat.
RAND Corp. autonomous vehicle expert Nidhi Kalra is available to discuss the state's proposed rules as compared to that in other states, their potential impact on autonomous vehicle development in California, as well as other issues related to driverless cars, including safety.
