RAND Expert Available to Address U.S. Strategy in Afghanistan
August 21, 2017
President Trump will discuss his administration's new strategy in Afghanistan this evening. Increases in U.S. military troops and the hiring of potential outside defense contractors will be on the President's agenda. Seth Jones, Director of the International Security and Defense Policy Center at the RAND Corporation, is available for interviews to discuss potential changes to the U.S. strategy in Afghanistan. Jones previously served as the representative for the commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations.
Jones can discuss why the United States should stay the course in Afghanistan and whether bringing in outside military contractors instead of increasing U.S. troops might not be a good idea to pursue in Afghanistan, among other related issues.
