RAND Experts Available to Discuss U.S. Relationships, Regional Issues Ahead of President Trump's 12-Day Trip to Asia

Ahead of President Donald Trump's 12-day trip to five Asian nations Nov. 3–14, RAND experts can address a variety of topics related to China, Japan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and North and South Korea.

Michael Chase is a senior political scientist at RAND, professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School and an adjunct professor in the China Studies and Strategic Studies Departments at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Chase can discuss U.S.-China relations and regional security issues, including the United States' relationships with allies and partners.

Andrew Scobell is a senior political scientist at RAND and adjunct professor of Asian studies in the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Scobell specializes in China's foreign and defense policies and U.S.-China relations. He follows events on the Korean Peninsula closely.

Timothy Heath is a senior international defense research analyst at RAND and member of the Pardee RAND Graduate School faculty. Heath specializes in Chinese domestic and foreign policy, Chinese military and Asian security affairs.

Scott Harold is associate director of the RAND Center for Asia Pacific Policy and a political scientist at RAND. He specializes in Chinese foreign policy, East Asian security and international affairs. He can discuss China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea and Southeast Asia.

Jonah Blank is a senior political scientist at RAND. Blank can discuss Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and the Philippines, as well as regional Asian security issues such as South China Sea disputes and the ramifications of the recent seizure by China's navy of a U.S. underwater drone.

Jeffrey Hornung is a political scientist at RAND. He specializes in Japanese security and foreign policies, East Asian security issues, maritime security, and U.S. foreign and defense policies in the Asia-Pacific region, including its alliances.
