RAND Expert to Address How the Federal Government Can Encourage Americans to Serve Their Country
Katherine Kidder, an associate political scientist at the RAND Corporation, will testify before the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service on “Fostering Skills and Creating New Pipelines for Military Service.”
Kidder will discuss:
- how to encourage and inspire more Americans to serve their country and communities
- how the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 may enable access to critical skills by attracting and accessing new officers with critical skills, by retaining and promoting highly competitive officers, and by extending career lengths for officers with critical skills
- how the fields of cyber, artificial intelligence and machine learning may be of interest to potential new officers
- how to increase the interaction between the services and civilian industry.
