This paper presents summaries of remarks made by participants in a symposium held at the University of California, Los Angeles, on October 1, 1991. Symposium topics included Western private investment, privatization in Russia, the politics of privatization, the privatization experience in Eastern Europe, and the economic outlook and the problem of foreign aid.
