An evaluation of certain gas effects on titanium of the highest purity available. These alloys of titanium contain 0.25, 0.5, and 1 atomic per cent of oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, respectively, and are made from rods of iodide-refined titanium by a gaseous diffusion method. The rods are tested for their density, electrical resistivity, microstructure, mechanical properties, and cold-working characteristics.
