With the increasing needs of local travel in a growing city, Cambridge and its surrounding areas have to accommodate such growth. Cambridge Network organised an event to explore what possibilities are open to Cambridge – whether this is ‘last mile delivery’ drones, bikes, autonomous vehicles or tunnels. The event focused on the size of the challenge, the evidence base surrounding it, potential future scenarios and ideas being developed outside of Cambridge that could be used.

RAND Europe’s Charlene Rohr, Senior Research Leader, spoke on what travel in Britain will look like in 2035. Author of the 2016 report Travel in Britain in 2035: Future scenarios and their implications for technology innovation, Rohr discussed emerging technologies’ potential to alleviate future transport demands.
