Marc Bentinck

Marc Bentinck left the Dutch foreign service in 2014 after a 35 years’ career in multilateral security diplomacy. He is now a Senior Research Fellow at RAND Europe and a Senior Advisor with a Brussels-based consultancy in European and public affairs. He previously served on the EU’s Political and Security Committee as deputy/acting Netherlands representative.

Joanna Chataway

Joanna Chataway is the former research group director of Innovation, Health and Science at RAND Europe. She has more than 20 years of research and consultancy experience in the areas of innovation and social and economic development—particularly in the analysis and evaluation of investment in research and innovation and what sorts of policy, finance, and institutions are needed to facilitate translation of research into useful innovation. Her research has spanned public and private sectors and she has worked in industrially developed and developing countries.

Malik Dahlan

Prof. Dr. Malik Dahlan is a Senior Research Fellow at RAND Europe with research interests including statehood and statecraft; international trade policy, negotiations and international dispute settlement; Middle East policy and Arabian Peninsula strategic research; and the political economy of the implementation of rule of law. From 2005 to 2015, he was the Principal of Institution Quraysh for Law & Policy (iQ), a transnational law and policy think-tank focused on regulatory and governance services in the Arab world.

He is also an Emeritus Professor at the Institute for Transport Studies at the University of Leeds, visiting professor at the Centre for Transport Studies, Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, and the developer and supporter of the ALOGIT software package for choice modelling.

Erik Frinking

Erik Frinking is a senior research fellow at RAND Europe and an internationally recognized expert in international and national security affairs. For more than 25 years, he has been involved in addressing high-level, complex policy issues in various domains (cybersecurity, science & technology, defence and security) in a large number of European and North American countries, and for numerous international organizations. His responsibilities and activities focus on formulating and analyzing policy options, evaluating policy outcomes, and developing strategies.

Calum MacLure is a Research Fellow at RAND Europe focussing on health and innovation policy. He has contributed to evaluations of national and international policy responses to health issues including antimicrobial resistance and cardiovascular disease, as well as studies on innovation in healthcare.

Emma Pitchforth

Emma Pitchforth is Senior Lecturer and Senior Research Fellow in Primary Care at the University of Exeter and a Senior Research Fellow at RAND Europe. She has a significant track record of research in diverse health care settings (including UK, Bangladesh, India, Nigeria, Western Europe) and is interested in using social science methods and perspectives to understand the potential of different service configurations in meeting the needs of different population groups. Much of her current research looks at the interface between different services and sectors. This includes a study of community based social innovation in middle and high income countries and international experience of the role of community hospitals. Drawing on her experience in global public health she has ongoing research around antimicrobial resistance as a global policy issue.

Samir Puri

Samir Puri is a Research Fellow at RAND Europe. He also holds a post as a lecturer in War Studies at King’s College London, where he teaches MA courses on counter-terrorism and contemporary war. In his time working with RAND Europe he has contributed to projects for the UK MoD and US DoD on a range of defence and security topics.

Parashar Ramanuj

Parashar Ramanuj is a Consultant in the Psychiatry of Musculoskeletal Disease at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital where he works principally with people who have suffered life-changing spinal cord injuries and also people with chronic pain conditions. He has degrees in Clinical Neuroscience and Clinical Medicine from King’s College London. He completed his psychiatric training in Sussex and at the St Thomas’ and Maudsley Hospitals in London.

With a background in management and leadership development in the private sector, and as a professional army officer in Signals Intelligence and Special Forces, Peter Reed also has 24 years’ experience as an international institutional and organisational development consultant with assignments in 45 countries and increasing focus on SSR in FCAS. He has specialised for 15 years in coaching senior teams in managing the process of institutional strengthening and strategy mapping in VUCA operating environments.
