The Centre’s research teams design an appropriate combination of futures tools and techniques to address the specific requirements of clients. In broad terms, our specific methods can be grouped in three different categories.


This category includes all methods used to identify and assess emerging technological, social, economic and political trends. This includes, for example, horizon scanning and technology-watch services, big-data analysis, and roadmapping.

Scenario analysis

Our scenario methods are particularly useful in conducting sensitivity analysis, formulating policy options and designing decision trees. Examples of methods under this category include Three Horizons Framework and Assumption-Based Planning.

Serious games are a very effective tool to test options, assumptions, plans and policies against a set of scenarios. In addition, games and exercises are extensively used for training and education purposes.
