Prediction rules have yet to be published for the interventions listed as brief pain-management programmes, but there is evidence that some tools are useful in detecting psychosocial aspects of low back pain and are predictive of poor outcomes.
The evidence for effects of omega-3 fatty acids on outcomes in the conditions assessed varies greatly. Omega-3 fatty acids appear to reduce serum triglycerides among type II diabetics, but have no effect on total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol.
On the basis of a comprehensive literature review, a set of process indicators to assess the quality of health care for vulnerable elders with osteoarthritis was developed. This paper summarizes the methods used to develop these indicators and reviews the evidence on which they are based.
