Shadow Coaching Improves Patient Experience for English-Preferring Patients but Not for Spanish-Preferring Patients

We found a significant improvement in provider communication and overall provider rating among English-preferring patients of providers, who had one-on-one provider counseling by trained peers, but no evidence of an effect for Spanish-preferring patients.

Follow-Up Shadow Coaching Improves Primary Care Provider-Patient Interactions and Maintains Improvements When Conducted Regularly: A Spline Model Analysis

Re-coaching improved patient experience more than initial coaching, suggesting the reactivation of knowledge from initial coaching. However, re-coaching gains also eroded. Coaching should occur every 6–12 months to maintain behaviors and scores.
