AssetPlus is an assessment and planning framework used by youth offending teams throughout England and Wales. RAND Europe was commissioned by the Youth Justice Board to explore the experiences and perceptions of youth justice practitioners using AssetPlus. The study found that practitioners strongly supported the ideas underpinning the assessment tool but faced challenges related to its user interface and information-sharing capabilities.

This brief examines maternity and parental leave provision across European countries and its potential impact on the breastfeeding of very young babies (up to 6-months). We also consider economic factors of potential extension of maternity leave provision to 6 months, such as costs to businesses, effects on the female labour market attachment, and wider consequences (benefits and costs) for individuals, families, employers and the wider society.
Despite the positive effect of paternity- and parental leave uptake by fathers on a number of economic, social and demographic outcomes, the current uptake of leave by fathers across Europe is low. In this brief we provide a synthesized overview of paternity leave policies and policies which encourage sharing parental leave between new parents as currently implemented in Europe, and discuss policy levers for increasing uptake of lave by fathers.
The quality of Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) is key in its effectiveness in improving outcomes in children. In this policy brief we reviewed current academic and policy debates on issues relating to the quality of ECEC services. We examined the definitions and measurements of childcare quality in EU member states and found that views and understandings on what constitutes quality in ECEC differs across countries and actors involved.

This report examines the economic burden of insufficient sleep across five different OECD countries. Taking into account the association between sleep deprivation and mortality, workplace productivity and skill accumulation, the findings of this study suggest that insufficient sleep can result in large economic costs in terms of lost GDP and lower labour productivity.
