RAND IFLS-5 Survey Description
The fifth wave of the Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS5) is a continuation of IFLS, expanding the panel to 2014/2015.
IFLS5 was a collaborative effort of RAND and Survey Meter. The project leader was John Strauss (University of Southern California and RAND). Firman Witoelar (Survey Meter) and Bondan Sikoki (Survey Meter) were co-PIs as well as the Field Directors for IFLS5.
Funding for IFLS5 was provided by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the National Institute for Child Health and Development (NICHD), and grants from the World Bank, Indonesia and GRM International, Australia from DFAT, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Australia.
The IFLS5, which was fielded between late October 2014 and the end of April 2015 with long distance tracking extending through the end of August 2015, added the following modules beyond those used in IFLS4:
- Additional cognition modules, including the number series from the Health and Retirement Survey (HRS)
- Personality module, Big Five Index
- Subjective well-being questions on positive and negative affect
- Sleep disturbance and sleep impairment
