Contextual Data

DNORS assembled contextual data for Orleans Parish that can be used in conjunction with the DNORS Restricted Data or independently. Contextual data for DNORS comprises one set of Census 2000 data that is provided at the Census Tract level and another different set at the Census Block level that also includes elevation and Katrina flood depth information.

Census Tracts are a small relatively permanent sub-division of a county used by the U.S. Census Bureau to collect and tabulate Census data. Census Blocks are a geographic subdivision of a Census Tract that are typically the size of a city block in urban areas, and are the smallest geographic unit defined by the U.S. Census Bureau that is used to report Census data.

These contextual data files are available in both SAS (version 9) and Stata (Version 9) format.
