Final Application for DNORPS Restricted Use Data
After your Preliminary Application for use of the DNORPS Restricted data is approved, you will be asked to submit a final application. That final application will include human subjects review and a signed Restricted Data Use agreement.
Human Subjects Review
Once the Research Proposal and Data Protection Plan have been approved by RAND, the Research Investigator must then submit the project and the approved Data Protection Plan to the Institutional Review Board of the researcher's institution for review and approval. If the requestor is a student, then the student must have a faculty sponsor who can initiate an IRB request. It is the faculty sponsor who will sign the Restricted Data Use agreement.
Once IRB approval has been obtained, we require an electronic copy of the IRB's approval notice. The final step is signature of Restricted Data Use Agreement by the researcher or faculty sponsor if the requestor is a student.
Final Application Package
Once the researcher's IRB has approved the application, the next step is for the applicant to submit electronically a final application package that contains the following:
- A copy of the final Research Proposal and Data Protection Plan, as approved by RAND and the Institutional Review Board of the Restricted Data Investigator's home institution.
- A copy of the email received from RAND approving the initial application.
- A copy of the approval by the Institutional Review Board of the Restricted Data Investigator's home institution, including FWA number.
- A completed copy of the Restricted Data Use Agreement signed by the researcher or faculty sponsor if researcher is a student.
Send the Final Application package to DNORPS via email.
When RAND has received the above package and determines that all requirements are met, a representative from RAND will contact the Restricted Data Investigator and provide information on how to download the DNORPS Restricted Data from a secure FTP site.Read more on using DNORPS Restricted Data
