Likelihood of vaccination for influenza is associated with perceived risk and experience with influenza. Higher perceived risk of influenza may be more associated with interpreting ambiguous symptoms as influenza.

Cultural Dynamics, Substance Use, and Resilience Among American Indian/Alaska Native Emerging Adults in Urban Areas

We conducted 13 focus groups with urban AI/AN emerging adults, parents, and providers. We found risks of substance use from cultural isolation and that culture provided a source of strength and resilience for urban AI/AN emerging adults.

Longitudinal Effects of Social Network Changes on Drinking Outcomes for Individuals with a First-Time DUI

Individuals with a first DUI were surveyed about pre- and post-DUI social networks. Participants reduced risky network members and increased supportive network members. Reducing drinking partners was associated with improved drinking outcomes.

Spending Trajectories After Age 65 Variation by Initial Wealth

Financial planning requires information about how spending needs evolve with age. Spending declines after age 65, also among wealthy households, suggesting that the decline is due to changes in the desire to spend, not tightening economic circumstances.

Couples' Diminished Social and Financial Capital Exacerbate the Association Between Maladaptive Attributions and Relationship Satisfaction

A study of the social networks of 462 ethnically diverse newlywed spouses living with low incomes (231 couples, with 30% Black and 50% Latinx). The link between relationship satisfaction and communication depends on network characteristics.
