Internships and Fellowships

As part of its ongoing effort to inform public policy and decisionmaking, the RAND Corporation offers a number of internship and fellowship programs. The Graduate Student Summer Associate Program allows outstanding students to conduct short-term independent research within the framework of an ongoing RAND project; these summer associates are mentored by RAND staff. RAND also provides postdoctoral candidates with the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills through several RAND fellowships and programs.

Pardee RAND Graduate School — African First Ladies Fellowship Program

PRGS is pleased to offer the African First Ladies Fellowship Program September 27-October 1, 2010 in RAND's Washington office. This will be an intensive five-day course introducing staff and advisors of African First Ladies to strategies for establishing and managing an effective First Lady's Office, and to a policy analysis framework for improving executive decisionmaking.

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Nuclear Security Fellows Program

Sponsored by the Stanton Foundation, this nuclear security fellowship provides one year of support for scholars interested in conducting interdisciplinary research that will advance policy-relevant understanding on nuclear security-related topics. Up to three (3) fellows will be chosen each year.

RAND Fellows in Population Studies and the Study of Aging

Housed within the RAND Labor and Population, this program offers scholars with interests in demographic and aging research the opportunity to sharpen their analytic skills, learn to communicate research results effectively, and develop a future research agenda.

RAND-University of Pittsburgh Scholars Program

Supported by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and sponsored by the RAND-University of Pittsburgh Health Institute (RUPHI), this program seeks outstanding applicants with prior health professional or research doctorates who are committed to careers in health services research and/or health policy.

Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at UCLA

Designed to allow young physicians committed to clinical medicine to acquire new skills and training in the nonbiological sciences, participants in this UCLA program have the opportunity to involve themselves in RAND Health projects as part of their training.

Transatlantic Postdoctoral Fellowship for International Relations and Security

Sponsored by an international consortium of think tanks and research institutions, this fellowship provides two years of support for scholars of international relations and security interested in conducting policy-oriented research.

Military Fellows Program

RAND acts as a host to active-duty service members from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces through the Military Fellows Program. Typically, fellows are stationed at RAND's headquarters campus in Santa Monica for one year. Fellows are given access to all aspects of RAND's research community and are encouraged to participate actively in RAND research projects, seminars, and discussion groups.
