Participate in the RAND Study on Teaching About Jewish Identity and History
RAND is conducting a study during the 2026-2027 school year to understand how brief classroom lessons about Jewish identity and history build students’ knowledge about these topics and whether the lessons are effective in combating antisemitism.
Who is eligible?
- Middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12) English language arts and social studies teachers in traditional public schools are eligible to participate.
- Unfortunately, we are not able to include charter and private school teachers in this project.
What is involved if selected?
- Districts: We will ask participating districts to support teacher recruitment by providing researchers with contact information for middle and high school principals and middle and high school ELA and social studies teachers.
- Teachers: We will ask participating teachers to teach a classroom lesson (ranging from 1 to 4 class periods) on topics related to Jewish identity and history. We will also ask participating teachers to take two brief surveys and to administer provided student assessments, both before and after teaching the lesson.
Participating teachers will receive up to $700 in gift cards. Teachers and their schools and districts will also have access to high-quality, vetted lessons created by content experts that they can continue to use after the 2026-2027 school year.
