Gianluca Boo

Gianluca Boo is a quantitative research leader at RAND Europe. He is affiliated with the newly established Data Science Lab, where he develops and applies cutting-edge data science techniques across a range of research domains. His work focuses on building end-to-end data science pipelines that integrate bespoke datasets, innovative analytical approaches, and advanced visualisation methods to inform policy and decision-making.

His research spans multiple disciplines, including demography, epidemiology, forensics, and urban planning. Before joining RAND, Boo served as a senior data expert at the Small Arms Survey, Geneva Graduate Institute, and as a senior research fellow at WorldPop, University of Southampton. He holds a Ph.D. in geography from the University of Zurich.
