Chiara Lazzeri is a data scientist at RAND Europe in the Data Science Lab.
Before joining RAND Europe, Lazzeri completed an M.Sci. degree in physics with astrophysics at the University of Glasgow and a Ph.D. in Space Plasma Physics at University College London. During her Ph.D., Lazzeri investigated phenomena in Earth's magnetosphere using spacecraft and ground data, as well as empirical and physics-based models; through this work, she developed a solid understanding of statistical techniques, data cleaning and transformations, frequency analysis, and comparing models with observations. Lazzeri has also worked on machine learning projects, implementing and training a Deep Learning Neural Network for signal classification in an astrophysical context.
