Samantha Mathews

Samantha Mathews is an M.Phil. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. Her research interests include international security and defense, domestic and international terrorism, and foreign affairs.

Prior to joining RAND, Mathews worked in Kuwait as a defense researcher focused on Middle Eastern politics. In this role, she provided day-today reports on regional security developments and histories, led research groups through a variety of qualitative methods, and briefed officials from government, military, and donors such as the Kuwait Red Crescent Society.

Mathews holds an M.A. in international security studies and a B.A. in political science from the University of Arizona. She is proficient in Tagalog and conversational/colloquial Arabic.
