Fund-raising professional Naveena Ponnusamy has been named executive director of development at the RAND Corporation, officials announced today.
Ponnusamy will oversee RAND's institutional and programmatic fund-raising objectives. RAND is a nonprofit research organization.
"I look forward to leading a dedicated group of development professionals and working alongside the many donors who are committed to supporting RAND's mission of providing objective public policy analysis that addresses some of the world's most critical and urgent problems," Ponnusamy said.
"Philanthropic support helps us fulfill an ambitious public service mission," said James A. Thomson, president and CEO of RAND. "The supporters Naveena and her team identify, engage and cultivate allow RAND to take on the world's most difficult problems with rigorous and fact-based analysis."
Ponnusamy joined RAND in March 2010 as associate executive director of development. Previously, she was assistant dean for external relations for the USC Marshall School of Business. She also was director of principal gifts for USC and served as an account supervisor at Edelman, the global public relations firm based in New York.
Ponnusamy is a graduate of Columbia University and received her master's degree from New York University.
