This editorial comments on an article in the same journal that demonstrates (through the use of hospital-based adverse drug events) that errors in medicine are prevalent and often preventable. The editorial states that, given the increasing complexity of medical sciences, the use of computers and systems analysis as aids in disseminating information about processes of care would help to avoid errors in medicine. Such technical assistance should therefore be welcomed.
