Cybersecurity has had a prominent place in the spotlight for a while now, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Our digital dependence has led to a situation where security vulnerabilities and (potential) security incidents come accompanied by serious consequences, especially if such vulnerabilities and incidents occur within organisations in the critical infrastructure sectors. This research had as its starting point the desire to map why, how and how much organisations in critical infrastructure sectors invest in cybersecurity. The main research question was: On what basis, in what way and to what extent do private companies and public organisations in the critical infrastructure sectors invest in cybersecurity?
