Saskia Byng is an analyst at RAND Europe in the Defence, Security and Justice team. Her research interests cover a range of security, human rights and justice issues, including illicit markets, transnational organised crime and China’s political and policy landscape. Prior to joining RAND Europe, she was an analyst in the UK Civil Service.

She holds a first-class M.A. in Chinese studies from the University of Edinburgh and an M.A. in human rights law from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
