Associate Information Scientist, RAND; Professor of Policy Analysis, RAND School of Public Policy
Ensheng Dong is an associate information scientist at RAND and a professor of policy analysis at the RAND School of Public Policy. His research focuses on infectious disease modeling, mental health analytics, network science, spatial intelligence, and data visualization. His recent work includes tracking county-level measles cases in the United States, analyzing mental health treatment facilities, and assessing health care access and quality for veterans in New York State.
Before joining RAND, he built the Johns Hopkins CSSE COVID-19 Dashboard, one of the world’s most widely used sources of pandemic data. The dashboard was named one of TIME’s Best Inventions of 2020, and his work has been recognized with awards from Research!America, the World Federation of Public Health Associations, Esri, Route Fifty, and the Hodson Foundation. His research has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, NPR, CNN, TIME, Nature Index, Le Monde, Bloomberg, and other outlets. He holds a Ph.D. in civil and systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
