Visiting Technical Expert; Professor of Policy Analysis, RAND School of Public Policy
James Gimbi is a visiting technical expert at RAND and a professor at the RAND School of Public Policy. His research focuses on secure AI practice and policy at the RAND Center on AI, Security, and Technology. The center combines in-depth policy research with state-of-the-art technical research to provide policymakers with the information and expertise needed to prevent, prepare for, and mitigate large-scale catastrophes.
Prior to RAND, Gimbi led consulting teams focused on cyber strategy and incident response, directing crisis response for victims of criminal and nation-state cyberattacks. He also served as a U.S. Senate policy advisor through the Congressional Innovation Fellowship with a portfolio focused on emerging technology and homeland security. Gimbi holds a B.S. in information security from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
