Eric Landree is acting vice president of the RAND Homeland Security Research Division (HSRD) and acting director of the Homeland Security Operational Analysis Center, a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) operated at RAND. As a senior engineer at RAND, Landree’s research focuses on policy issues at the nexus of program evaluation, emerging technologies, research and development strategic planning, and national and homeland security. He has led projects for the Department of Homeland Security on biosurveillance and innovation, and research and development strategic planning. He has also led projects for the Department of War on topics related to assessing perspectives regarding the military's use of artificial intelligence, and has examined establishing standards across Department of Defense cyber test ranges.
At RAND, Landree has served as the associate director for the Cyber and Intelligence Policy Center within the RAND National Security Research Division, and as the associate research department director (ARDD) for the Engineering and Applied Sciences Department, one of RAND’s disciplinary research departments.
Before joining RAND, Landree participated in the American Association for the Advancement of Science's Defense Science & Technology Policy Fellowship Program in the Department of Defense Office of the Director, Defense Research and Engineering. He also worked at National Institute of Standards and Technology as a National Research Council postdoctoral fellow. Landree holds a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University and a B.S. in physics from Allegheny College.
