Nate Long

Nate Long is an M.Phil. student at the RAND School of Public Policy and an assistant policy researcher at RAND. He joined RAND in September 2025 and is based out of Washington, D.C. He leverages his engineering background to inform his work in the technology policy space and seeks to help society maximize the benefits of technology while minimizing its harms.

Before RAND, Long founded and led the Boston Educational Technology Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit volunteer organization that connects and expands Boston's EdTech industry by hosting regular free, public events ranging from panel discussions to job fairs. He also led software teams and worked as a software engineer in roles ranging from founding and leading HubSpot's search engine infrastructure team to joining as engineer #5 at an MIT-affiliated AI/computer vision startup in 2016.

Long holds a B.S. in computer science from Tufts University.
