Marissa Martin is a senior analyst at RAND Europe within the Defence, Security and Justice team. Her primary research interests are in space posture development and space strategy, with a focus on allied relationships. She is a member of the RAND Europe Space Hub (RESH) team, a cross-RAND centre of excellence for space-related research.
Martin has managed and delivered studies for a wide range of institutions, agencies, and governments, including the FCDO, the European Commission, and the UK Space Agency, amongst others. She is actively interested in understanding the role of middle powers in space and has written short-form pieces featured in The Conversation UK, RAND, UK in a Changing Europe, and academic journals.
Martin holds an M.A. in security policy studies with a concentration in science and technology from George Washington University's Elliott School as well as a B.A. magna cum laude in international relations and a certificate in national security studies from Florida International University. In addition to her work at RAND, Martin is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in defence studies at King's College London, which focuses on middle space power posture formulation.
