Caolionn (pronounced KEY-lin) O'Connell is a senior physical scientist at the RAND Corporation, an associate director of RAND Arroyo Center's Forces and Logistics Program, and a professor at Pardee RAND Graduate School. She primarily works in the national security sector, with a focus on cyber issues and resource management. Her recent work includes looking at the cybersecurity of USAF base infrastructure and the training and retention of the Army's cyber workforce.  

Prior to joining RAND, she worked as a research staff member at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA) and as a government civilian in the Office of Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. She holds a B.A. from Harvard and Ph.D. from Stanford, both in physics.
