Public Trust in Science: Overview Findings on Trust and Scientific Trustworthiness
This document presents an overview and synthesis of findings from RAND Europe's research for Wellcome on public trust in science and scientific trustworthiness.
Giulia Tomba is a senior analyst at RAND Europe within the Science and Emerging Technologies team. Her research interests focus on the societal impact, responsible adoption and governance of AI and emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on stakeholder engagement, public trust, and equity.
Prior to joining RAND Europe, Tomba worked at the Alan Turing Institute, where she contributed to projects spanning the use of health data and AI for the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases, the management of multiple long-term conditions, and initiatives to advance data science careers in biomedical research. She also previously held a role at the Wellcome Trust in the Data for Science and Health team.
Tomba holds an M.Eng. in materials engineering and a Ph.D. in physics. She has extensive academic experience in computational modelling, including work on biomaterial interfaces and proteins related to neurodegenerative diseases.
