Executive Compensation: Challenges and Opportunities

In May 2010, RAND presented, as part of its Distinguished Speaker Series, a conversation with Robert Jackson, Jr., Deputy Special Master for TARP Executive Compensation. The conversation was moderated by Michael Rich, executive vice president of the RAND Corporation.

The Office of the Special Master was established by the U.S. Department of the Treasury in 2009 to oversee the compensation of top executives at companies that have received financial assistance as part of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Prior to joining the Treasury, Jackson practiced in the Executive Compensation Department at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Jackson is currently on leave from the faculty of Columbia Law School, where his research projects emphasize the empirical study of corporate governance questions.
