RAND Europe Opens New Office in Brussels

RAND Europe has opened an office in Brussels to facilitate the nonprofit research organization's growing portfolio of work with Brussels-based policy institutions, including the European Commission.

RAND Europe, which is based in Cambridge, UK, is the European arm of the global RAND Corporation, based in the United States. For more than 15 years, RAND Europe has been working to improve policy and decision making through independent, quality research and analysis, largely for the public sector.

“This truly demonstrates RAND's commitment to a pan-European focus,” said Jonathan Grant, president of RAND Europe. “We can diversify and increase our client base, which enables us to become a larger player in informing European policy making.”

Research leader Constantijn van Oranje-Nassau, who is heading up the Brussels office, added: “RAND Europe will provide an exciting addition to the Brussels-based policy research environment. It brings to bear its strong history in policy analysis based on rigorous research and its reputation in developing quantitative and qualitative analytic methods.

“RAND Europe has now positioned itself at the heart of Europe, where it strives to become synonymous with high-quality analytical support to policy makers.”

Prior to joining RAND Europe, Oranje-Nassau worked at the European Commission in the cabinet of the commissioner for foreign affairs and as a management consultant in the operations practice at Booz Allen Hamilton in London.

By establishing new angles of inquiry and, in some cases, new methodologies for research, RAND Europe brings fresh approaches to complex problems and contributes to traditional RAND research fields as well as emerging issues in areas of social cohesion, social justice, population aging and economic competitiveness.

Its internationally diverse research staff carries out multidisciplinary work in specific areas of expertise which include health and healthcare, information policy, science and technology, defense and security and transport.
