Each year, the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) recognizes six innovative projects from around the world that are having a transformative impact on education.
Among last year's winners was a project to construct solar-powered “school boats” in Bangladesh (so children could learn even during a monsoon), an initiative to provide education and care for families and children living in a landfill district in Cambodia, and a project that is one of RAND Education's research partners, the Cristo Rey Network, which introduced a sustainable revenue model of private high school education for low-income students in the U.S.
WISE is now taking applications for its 2013 awards, which are due March 31st. Winners receive international recognition for their projects and $20,000 (U.S.) to further their cause.
