Health Status and Family Support of Older Malaysians

John Haaga, Christine E. Peterson, Julie DaVanzo, Sharon Mengchee Lee

Published 1993

This paper describes the Malaysian setting for older people and the data, from the Second Malaysian Family Life Survey, that is used to study them. The data are then used to examine the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics and an indicator of physical disabilities, to describe residential arrangements and financial assistance for frail older people in Malaysia, and to assess how these vary across the major ethnic groups.
