Evidence on the Effectiveness of Implementation Strategies

Clinicians and health systems use a wide variety of strategies to implement evidence-based changes in how they deliver care to improve care quality and patient outcomes. This site presents the results of a comprehensive review of the effectiveness of implementation strategies for achieving these goals. The review was conducted by a team at RAND and the Veterans Health Foundation under contract to PCORI. Our assessment of the strength of evidence, which we report for some of the most common implementation strategies, used findings from rigorous original research published between January 2010 and September 2022, and from systematic reviews published before September 2022.
