This Note documents the contents of the provider file, which contains selected information concerning health professionals located within the six sites of the Health Insurance Experiment, a major social experiment conducted by The RAND Corporation from 1974 to 1982 under a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The bulk of the information in the provider file pertains to the types of practices, the professional specialties, and the professional affiliations of providers who were members of the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, or the American Dental Association.
