This Note consists of six case studies that examined the teacher recruitment and selection practices in school districts in Arizona, Florida, Maryland, New York, and North Carolina. The case studies were done in support of a research project that is described in a companion report, R-3462. The districts chosen for case studies had highly developed selection practices or paid particular attention to their selection of teachers.
