This Note describes the conceptual specifications of the Year of Service Target Generator (YOSTG). The YOSTG is the component of the Enlisted Force Management System that produces desirable year of service distributions, called targets, for each occupation in the enlisted Air Force. The year of service targets are needed to manage the Selective Reenlistment Bonus program and to determine Career Job Reservations. This Note gives the conceptual foundations of the YOSTG, an overview of how the model works, and examples of its results.
This report is part of the RAND Corporation Note series. The note was a product of the RAND Corporation from 1979 to 1993 that reported other outputs of sponsored research for general distribution.
