A discussion of municipal data processing. Economies possible through the use of electronic data processing depend directly on the extent to which municipal officials are able to specify the precise role of data in city operations. Until recently, it was sufficient to concentrate solely on the use of data in clerical applications. From now on, the author concludes, cities must also improve the use of data in management decisions.
