An outline of the changing trends in consumption in the USSR from 1928 to 1958. It is shown how the shift in the Russian economy from agricultural to industrial has had its effect on these trends. The growth of consumption in food, clothing, household goods, and shelter, and the importance of such government supplied items as medical care and education are illustrated.
